My Story…
I'm a new swimmer who has quickly become hooked on open water swimming.
The freeing feeling of swimming in the open water is very special.
Living in Ottawa, I am very fortunate to have easy access to safe and friendly waterways for swimming, kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding, and fishing.
This year I'm participating in the Ottawa Riverkeeper Open Water 4 km swim. This is a new challenge for me and will be my longest swim ever.
Along with my swimming goal, I've set a fundraising goal for the Ottawa Riverkeeper - a charitable organization working to keep our area waterways swimmable, fishable, and drinkable.
Please help me reach my personal goal of raising $200.00 for the Ottawa Riverkeeper. (And why not come out on August 14 to swim, volunteer, and cheer?)
Description
Ottawa Riverkeeper has been bringing people together to protect and promote the ecological health of the Ottawa River and watershed for over 20 years! With a watershed bigger than the size of England, measuring 1,271 km (from source to mouth), the Ottawa River is home to more than 24 imperiled species, such as the American eel and the Hickorynut Mussel.
Your donation will help to fund vital programs like the Pollution Hotline, our Watershed Health Assessment & Monitoring program, our Riverwatch network of incredible volunteers, and more!
Thank you for caring about the mighty Kichi Sibi and for joining the growing movement to help protect and steward the lakes, creeks and rivers in our vast watershed!
