My Story…
This will be my 3rd Ottawa Riverkeeper Open Water Swim. This time I will be participating in the 1.5km distance.
I've been swimming in the Ottawa River since I was a kid, from Ottawa (Westboro Beach), to Haughton's Bay, and Deep River. I remember participating in my first open water (cross river) swim in Deep River as a teenager. I'm excited to be returning to this sport.
I've been a volunteer Riverwatcher with the Ottawa Riverkeeper for several years, participating in water quality testing, shoreling cleanups, as well as special research projects such as testing for microplastics. The Ottawa River is an important resource that needs to be protected.

Description
Ottawa Riverkeeper has been bringing people together to protect and promote the ecological health of the Ottawa River and watershed for over 20 years! With a watershed bigger than the size of England, measuring 1,271 km (from source to mouth), the Ottawa River is home to more than 24 imperiled species, such as the American eel and the Hickorynut Mussel.
