Walk-a-Thon for Departure Bay Eco-School Library
This year the PAC at Departure Bay Eco-School is hosting a Walk-a-Thon to raise money for a complete library overhaul. This would provide students with flexible seating, adjustable/moveable tables, new bookshelves, and most importantly, new books. The project requires $60,000 to be fundraised in order to do the complete renovation. The sooner we reach this target, the sooner each of your children will see an immediate benefit from the use of the library space.
The walk-a-thon will take place Friday, June 3rd at the school, and all classes will participate in this amazing event.
The other, and equally important event, will be the student and staff fundraising drive which will be happening from Friday, April 15th until Friday, June 3rd. Students and staff ask friends, family, colleagues, and neighbours to donate money virtually and students and staff will earn awesome prizes based on the levels of fundraising dollars they raise.
We thank you in advance as we aim to make this an enjoyable event while raising money for our library.
FUNDRAISING DRIVE: Every student and staff are invited to participate in this fundraising event. To get started you will need to set up your individual fundraising page under your class team. Fundraising participants will be eligible to earn individual and team prizes.
Team set up: Teams will be based on existing classes. Teachers will be designated as the team captains/cheerleaders. EAs can join the class/team they are normally with. Should any other staff members want to participate but do not have a team, they are welcome to pick the class of their choice.
How it works: Ask friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors to click on your fundraising page and donate money in order for you to get credit towards prizes. Participating students and staff will be able to share their fundraising page link on Facebook, Twitter, email, or via text messaging, making it easy to reach your contacts for online donations. Don't forget to ask your parents co-workers to support your fundraising page.
Money raised = awesome prizes! Students and staff can earn individual and class prizes based on the level of fundraising dollars they raise. Students and staff will be a part of their class team. Participants will earn individual digital badges to notify them when they reach a particular prize level.
