OVERVIEW
Easily recognizable as the much-loved and much-missed original Vail 100, VailHalla is an updated re-imagination of one of Colorado's most celebrated off road cycling monuments. VailHalla offers a course that's 60% champagne gravel, 30% adventure gravel and 10% rowdy doubletrack. 30, 50 and 100-mile distances are on tap. Authentic Colorado cowboy/viking/valkyrie vibe mixed with a generous dose of hipster mustache wax and Lil' Nas X.
Every rider gets a mountain of swag, all the food that they can eat and a post race hoedown with great food, killer beer and live music.
FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Colorado currently ranks 48th in the nation in education. Our teachers rank 50th in compensation. Like most mountain communities, there's a wide economic spectrum. It can be tough to eke out a living here. Low wages and a prohibitively expensive housing market make it especially difficult for educators.
With that in mind, we've elected to name the Education Foundation for Eagle County as Vailhalla/Vail100's primary beneficiary. EFEC bridges the gap in lost state and federal education funding in Eagle County, a number currently pegged at $2800 per student. EFEC also generates funding for in-school programs for enrichment and mental health, along with their efforts to retain top teacher talent.
A portion of our fundraising efforts benefits local sports clubs including the Vail Mountaineers Hockey Club and the Vail Valley Lacrosse Club. These proceeds are allocated to scholarship funds which fund participation by families who might normally not be able to take part.
We/I don't have a grand plan, or an altruistic world-changing vision. My wife and I simply want to recognize and reward the organizations in which we believe and which have enriched our lives and those of our children.
Our patronage plan will undoubtedly evolve in the coming years. The important thing today isn't to start perfectly, but simply to start.
YOU'RE GONNA GET CLOBBERED WITH SWAG
Every rider receives;
- A $100 credit in the Vailhalla Mercantile. Spend it on official Castelli kit or multiple t-shirts, socks and hats.
- Two personalized Vailhalla aid bags. Emblazoned with your bib number, these can be filled "Breck Epic style" with everything you anticipate needing on course. Our staff will transport them to corresponding aid stations for you so you can have your favorite gear or special dietary needs taken care of. After the event, you'll also have the sweetest grocery bags in your local bodega.
- Post race hoe-down. We're gonna roast pigs and corn, drink some beer and whisky, and listen to lots of bad covers of good music (or possibly vice versa.)
- Full aid station and medical support on course. Each aid station will be fully stocked with not just your waiting aid bags, but powerfood, water, electrolyte drinks and fruit.
- Custom personalized number plate
- Finisher award (100-mile course only)
