The Columbus Recreation and Parks Foundation is kicking off our inaugural Columbus Roll and Stroll and Health and Wellness Expo. This fun family-oriented event utilizes the great biking and running trails of the Central Ohio Greenways to provide you the flexibility to take part in the activities taking place along the riverfront at Genoa Park.
The featured events this year include:
5K timed run/walk that starts and finishes at Genoa Park and features a course on the scenic Scioto Trail that stretches through the heart of downtown Columbus following the Scioto River.
1 Mile Family Walk that starts and finishes at Genoa Park and a casual family walk along the Scioto River.
Celebrate Biking Columbus that offers cyclists four (4) park and scenic cycling routes on the Central Ohio Greenway trailways to Genoa Park for the the Health and Wellness Expo and Celebration area. The 4 cycling routes are:
- Olentangy Trail (30 Miles) From Worthington Hills to Genoa Park and back
- Olentangy Trail (20 Miles): From Antrim Park to Genoa Park and back
- Whetstone - (15 Miles): From Whetstone Park of Roses on the Olentangy Trail
- Scioto Trail -(10 Miles): From Hanger Clinic to Genoa Park on the Scioto Trail and back
New to biking and not ready for the 4 distances above? No worries, jump on the Olentangy Trail or any of the Central Ohio Greenway trails and make your way to Genoa Park for all the fun!
Health and Wellness Expo is planned for all runners, walkers, and biker and other visitors to come and take part in the excitement! We will have food trucks, exhibitors, running and biking clinics, live music, family entertainment, non-alcoholic beer garden, and fun raffles and prizes!
Why Participate?
Besides a fun family oriented event, the Columbus Roll and Stroll benefits the Columbus Recreation and Parks Foundation. The Columbus Recreation and Parks Foundation (CRP Foundation) is a private not for profit organization, which exists to further the mission of the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department (CRPD): to connect the people of our community through the power of nature, wellness, and creativity.
The organization’s purpose is to support the philanthropic initiatives of CRPD. The CRP Foundation works together with the department, community stakeholders, and the City of Columbus to ensure all residents have access to recreational programs, facilities, places, and spaces that make their lives and communities great.

Q: WHERE SHOULD I PARK FOR THE 5K, 1 MILE WALK OR THE WELLNESS EXPO?
A: There is limited parking along the street and on-site, so we encourage all participants to park at the COSI lots west of Genoa Park. We also encourage use of the COTA bus system to come to the site. For those doing the Charity Bike, please park at one of the entry points to the trail system. There will be bike racks available at Genoa Park. Please bring a lock for your bike!
Q: I REALLY WANT TO PARTICIPATE BUT HOW DO I BIKE TO THIS GREAT EVENT?
A: The site of the Columbus Roll and Stroll is Genoa Park, Washington Blvd behind COSI. Check out our BIKE CUE SHEET on this site for more specific directions.
Q: IS THE COLUMBUS ROLL AND STROLL A RAIN OR SHINE EVENT?
A: Yes.
Q: WHAT ARE ALL THE EVENTS OF THE DAY?
A: Besides the various rides/walks/runs, there is a HEALTH & WELLNESS EXPO featuring food trucks, exhibitors, clinics, live music, and children's activities.
Q: WHAT IS COLUMBUS RECREATION AND PARKS FOUNDATION AND WHAT IS THEIR MISSION?
A: Columbus Recreation and Parks Foundation is a non profit organization that provides services for individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. For more info, check out Columbus Recreation and Park’s website.
Q: HOW ARE THE FUNDS RAISED FROM THIS EVENT USED?
A. All proceeds from this event go towards unfunded or underfunded programs and services.
Q: OK, I AM A RUNNER OR WALKER OR JUST BIKE DOWN TO GENOA PARK, WHAT DO I DO FIRST?
A: Look for the registration/check-in tent.
If you have pre-registered, look for that sign marked “Pre-Registration”. Check in with the volunteers. You will be given your event shirt, event race bib (5K & 1 Mile Walk only), and swag bag.
If you have not pre-registered, look for the sign that says “Registration”.
Q: DO I GET A T-SHIRT?
A: T-shirts will be available for everyone who pre-registers by August 31.
Q: HOW DO I VOLUNTEER FOR THIS EVENT?
A: Check out our Volunteer page for all of the different volunteer opportunities.
Q: WHAT IF I GET A FLAT OR MY BIKE BREAKS DOWN?
A: The bike ride is a self-supported ride. We encourage you to carry extra tubes and air cartridges with you on your bike ride. We will are currently seeking volunteers from several bike shops to be at the event site to help you with your bicycle needs.
Q: HOW WILL I KNOW WHERE I AM GOING?
A: Each participant will be given a cue sheet with step by step directions. Also, the entire course will be marked with directional arrows. If you get lost, you can reference the cue sheet.
Q: WHAT ARE THE COURSES LIKE?
A: The ride is primarily on the Central Ohio Greenway. Certain parts of the trail will cross roads or in part be on road to connect certain parts of the trail. Please follow the rules of the road - ride in single file, wear a helmet, use hand signals, and follow all traffic signals and signage. The longer course is ideal for those more experienced cyclists. The shorter courses are geared more towards the casual cyclist. The shortest ride is perfect for families looking to ride together.
The 5k course is a sweet trip along the Scioto River. The 1 Mile walk takes place along the river and is a great walk for those just wanting to get out for a little fresh air.
Q: WHAT IF I GET TIRED, THIRSTY OR HUNGRY?
A: For bikers, please carry your own hydration. There will be a re-fill station at the Expo. The 5k course will have a water station at the approximately halfway point of the course. There will be water at the finish line.
Q: WHAT IF I HAVE TO USE THE RESTROOM?
A: Portable bathroom facilities will be available at the event site.
Q: SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT EVENT! WHO MADE ALL OF THIS POSSIBLE?
A: YOU WILL through your participation!! Also, we have a number of local, caring businesses helping us out. Some of them are mentioned on the Corporate Sponsor page. Biking Course Information
You can bike any course of your choosing to Genoa Park, the site of the Columbus Roll and Stroll. We have put together several recommended courses along the Central Ohio Greenways that are straightforward and primarily on the trail system. The trails are straightforward but we have created downloadable cue sheet and directions for you.
