Sugar Run supports a Memphis Diabetes Registry, local youth runners, and diabetes research through JDRF!
History of the Sugar Run 5K
The first Sugar Run held in 2006 had 37 participants and raised $2,500.
Now, 16 years later, the Sugar Run has evolved with the help of faithful supporters.
Four years ago we added a new division, the Pro/Elite Run, which showcases a top echelon of runners from around the world and allows the pro/elite athletes to compete with others in their category. We have added multiple Olympians to this category each year!
We share JDRF's goal to eradicate Type One diabetes, therefore, the Sugar Run benefits JDRF's Fund a Cure where proceeds are used for diabetes research, as well as a Memphis based Type One Registry while at the same time encouraging youth athletics.
