Pennington Blue Jay 5K and Hero Mile

Rain date: Saturday November 11th

We are excited to welcome over 200 participants this Saturday November 11th! Here are a few reminders:

Hero Mile begins at 11:00

5K begins at 11:30

• 5K participants will check in near the start line when you arrive to receive their bib number.
• Hero Mile bibs were sent home with race shirts in October. Please make sure you bring those bibs with you.
• Those individuals who registered for the Hero Mile after October 1st will receive their bibs this week.
• The school parking lot will be closed. Please plan to park on the street. Please do not use City Tavern's Parking. It is reserved for their patrons.
• We are waiting to hear from the church to see if we are able to use their parking lot this year. We will send out a separate email once we receive confirmation it will not impede on their activities.

Some shirt sizes have been on backorder and may not be in by November 19th. We were able to accommodate some sizes, but not all. We apologize for the inconvenience and will get your shirts to you as soon as they come in.

Due to the inclement weather expected this weekend we are postponing the race. Once we have a confirmed date we will send the information out.

On October 1st we will once again host our annual Blue Jay 5K & Hero Mile in person. This event Includes a 5K Race and a 1-mile fun run/walk. The goal of this race is to raise money for a scholarship fund created in honor of Officer Philip Michael Pennington, who our school was named after in September 2000. Officer Pennington was shot and killed while serving our community as a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics, or SWAT Team. Our school strives to uphold his character through our high standards and character education. His memory lives on through our students as they strive for excellence in education.

The course will be marked on both asphalt and grass and will be entirely on the school property.

T-Shirts are guaranteed by race day if you are registered by September 16th. Any registrations after the 16th will receive their shirt after the race.
