Move-ment for Peace
Join our “Move”-ment for Peace!
“Move”-ment for Peace is a month-long opportunity to support the work of the Meta Peace Team (MPT), to focus on the power of creative non-violence, and to “Move” us all toward a more just and peaceful society.
MPT trains ordinary citizens in the skills of active non-violence in everyday life, in violence de-escalation, protests against injustice, and places volunteers trained in conflict de-escalation (peace teams) when invited to places of conflict both domestically and internationally.
We are raising money through registrations and additional donations. Instead of asking for pledges, we ask our participants to promote this event, invite others to join and encourage others to donate. Together, we can “Move” toward a peaceful future!
Here is how it works:
1. Choose the kind of movement you like to do: walking, running, swimming, yoga, skipping, tap-dancing, jump-roping, hula-hooping, paddle-boarding, duck-walking, you-name-it—surprise us! Your movement can be silly or serious, meditative or whimsical.
You will join a community of peacemakers who are moving intentionally to express a desire for a better tomorrow.
2. Register and learn more about our event. We are asking for a $30 required donation. Our first $1,000 of donations will be matched by a private donor.
If you cannot afford the registration donation but still want to be involved, please reach out to MPT at MetaPeaceTeam@gmail.com for a potential scholarship.
3. Log the time that you have spent moving on our “Move”-ment for Peace Clock.”
It is our core belief that it is not the distance that we move, but the strength in our collective “Move”-ment that will create change.
4. Invite others to register and participate in the “Move”-ment for Peace!
Our “Move”-ment for Peace begins on August 21st and culminates on International Day of Peace- September 21st.
Whether MPT or participant led, we will promote opportunities to meet up with other participants to “Move” toward peace.
