About the WorkWell Program
Program Summary:
WorkWell is a New Jersey-based program that brings job training and life skills to people released from prison. WorkWell believes job and life skills are best acquired through building relationships among trainees, staff, and volunteers.
The top support services employers look for when hiring an ex-offender are the following:
• Completion of a transitional employment program after release.
• Completion of general work readiness training.
WorkWell emphasizes communication and interpersonal skills, a willingness to learn, attention to detail, reliability, and punctuality as important life skills also needed to end joblessness among our returning citizens.
WorkWell provides ongoing 4-week training cycles in which participants gain the skills and resources they need to achieve their dreams upon re-entry into their communities. Many graduates quickly get jobs and are able to maintain their employment using WorkWell training and services.
WorkWell collaborates with regional partners, including government agencies, local nonprofits, faith organizations, businesses, chefs, and restaurants, drawing on their unique expertise to help returning citizens hone their skills and establish an ongoing support network.
WorkWell affirms the dignity of our trainees, marking their successes and helping them with their transition.
WorkWell participants receive:
• Job skills training with an expert coach
• One-on-one and group mentorship
• Transportation/meals/training stipend
• Employment search, interview, and job application assistance
• Social services case management
• Referral and application assistance for health insurance, SNAP, utility assistance, ID replacement, and free tax preparation
