KENTUCKY STATE UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION BREAST CANCER AWARENESS RUN/WALK 2022

About Us:

The Annual Kentucky State University (KSU) Alumni 3K Breast Cancer Awareness Walk was founded in 2019 during the KSU Homecoming weekend. The co-creators of the event are KSU alumni, Crystal Woodard and Tyrie Nason Buchanan. Prior to the inaugural Cancer Walk, both were separately leading workout groups during KSU Homecoming weekends to promote healthy lifestyles and raise awareness and support surrounding breast cancer. With Homecoming regularly occurring in October, Buchanan and Woodyard united to bring an organized and deliberate spotlight on breast cancer awareness.

KSU alumni have hosted successful Breast Cancer Walk events in 2019 and 2021. Funds were raised for the Brown Cancer UofL Health to support Triple Negative breast cancer and provide transportation assistance to and from treatments.

On Friday, October 14, 2022, KSU alumni will host the Annual Breast Cancer 3K Walk. The goal is to expand partnerships to increase participation among KSU alumni and the community as well as to assist with uniting KSU and the City of Frankfort.
