Help Kyler raise money

For participating in COLOR ME PINK 5K 2022

My Story…

Born on August 19, 1995 to Ellen and Edward Kovaleski, I have been a lifelong resident of Avoca along with my siblings Katelyn, Christopher, and Kalley. Growing up, I attended Holy Rosary in Duryea where I graduated in 2010. Following HRS I attended Pittston Area High School and then Holy Cross High School where I graduated in 2014. During my time at Holy Cross, I was a member of the Basketball, Soccer and Football team. Following Holy Cross, I attended King’s College and graduated in 2018 with majors in Accounting, Finance, and Economics. I started out of college employed as Core Assurance Associate with PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC). After a year, I changed careers as a Senior investment Operations Associate with Prudential Financial and then ultimately Empower where I am currently employed.  Besides my employment, I have enjoyed staying active in the community by serving as   Head Freshman Basketball Coach and Varsity  assistant for my alma mater, Holy Cross High School as well as an AAU Basketball Coach for Riverfront Sports. I also enjoy being life-long Avoca Jolly Boy and a member of the Queen of the Apostles Parish.

When I was asked to be apart of 2022 Gentlemen’s Dash, I couldn’t be more ecstatic and honored. It is such a great event by Paint Pittston Pink that brings a wonderful community closer together as well as raises awareness to a disease that affects millions of people all over the world with the hope of finding a cure. This disease unfortunately has hit me personally. Over this past year, I learned our head basketball coach at Holy Cross, Al Callejas was diagnosed with lung cancer. Although Coach Al has been diagnosed with this disease, it hasn’t faltered his determination and belief that he will beat this disease. His courage and positive spirit throughout this difficult time has given me so much inspiration and I am honored to not only coach with him but to have him as a friend. That is why I will be running this year’s race in honor of Coach Al Callejas as well as in memory of my late grandmother, Irene Kovaleski who I unfortunately was never able to meet.
