My Story…
24hrs of Heros
Thank you for all of your support!
This will be my 3rd year participating in the 24 Hours of Heroes event and I am so excited! Last year, I made it a goal to raise as much as I possibly could with the extra time I had. All I know is, the adrenaline was pumping, and the emotions were flowing as I challenged my mind and body during these workouts, and managed to place 3rd in fundraising, raising just over $3200. The year before, the hail was smashing us in the face during the final and most grueling workout, McLaren, in honour of a fallen Canadian soldier, Corporal Mark McLaren. This event never fails to tug at my heart strings.
I hold this event very near and dear to my heart as I also struggle everyday with C-PTSD, and religiously use fitness as a means of therapy. I also come from a family of service men and women in Newfoundland, one of them living with PTSD themselves. I cannot thank 24 Hours of Heroes, Wounded Warriors, and all of its participants and sponsors enough for everything they do for those in need of service dogs.
This year I will be approximately 6 weeks postpartum after having my second baby girl, but still plan to give it my all (as safe as possible of course) during the workout named “Mikey” in honour of a Kawartha Lakes Police Officer who lost his life last November from an Operational Stress Injury, leaving behind his wife and daughter.
Every little bit of fundraising helps! Thank you everyone who continues to support me each and every year for such an important event! Although, I never feel as though a simple “thank you” is enough.
