What's included?
This is a 3-part course that will teach you the basics you need to get started in Canicross
So, what is Canicross anyway?
Canicross at its simplest is a person who is attached behind the dog and they run/walk/hike as a team, with your dog pulling you forward.
What to expect to learn:
During this 3-part course we will learn:
· What equipment you and your dog need, and how to properly fit this for you and your dog.
· How to keep you and your dog safe when running.
· How to engage your dog to pull, Stop/start, speed up, slow down, etc.
· How to safely pass others with out engaging
· How to read your dogs body language while being active.
· The different commands and techniques that are required when racing and running Canicross.
· Quick talk about the different sports this training can translate to biking, skiing, sledding, scooters, etc.
The 3 parts Are...
1. Intro video (you will learn all the basics of gear requirement for you and your dog, as well as trouble shooting fitting) & much more. You will receive the first introductory video, within 72hrs of registration.
2. In person group training with you & your dog (2-4hrs in length). At the end of training, I encourage you to stick around for a group fun run. Dates for the 3 location are below.
3. Follow up group call to trouble shoot any issues that may have arisen, as well as a learning plan to help build up milage safely for you and your pet. This will be scheduled 2-3 weeks after the in person training.
Please read carefully before signing up:
· Dogs must be 10 months of age & outfitted with a fitted running harness.
· Humans must be equipped with a hands-free leash or Canicross belt & line.
· We do have some equipment we can loan out during the training but please message us before you sign up to make sure it is available!
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early, so we can get started right away and don't waste any of your time! If you are borrowing gear, try to arrive a little earlier so we can keep things on schedule.

In person trainings are as follows/ location will be given upon registration. Note the event date on the race racer is Oct 10th, that is ONLY for Lethbridge , please register accordingly in the sub events.

Who am I?
I’m Jackie Landry, I am originally from the east coast, born and raised in New Brunswick, moved to AB in November of 2021. I have 2 teenage kids & 4 dogs.
One thing you will find out pretty quick getting to know me is I am obsessed with this sport and I love dogs, running, running with dogs & food!
I have been competing in Dog Harness Sports since 2018. I started out with a 9-year-old lab/ husky mix. The disciplines I compete in are Canicross, Bikjor, Skijor, Canitrail.
In 2019, I qualified for the Canadian National Champions in the women's Canicross division and placed 8th in Bristol Quebec.
