My Story…
Hi everyone! Although I’ve done a few half marathons on my own, I completed my first official half marathon race in Asbury Park, NJ (April 2023) which made me feel confident in deciding to sign up for my first official full marathon in November 2023!
My running coach throughout high school, Richard Marton aka Marathon Rich, was a huge marathon runner (I believe he ran 49 marathons in his lifetime). He was the person who first made me realize my passion for running as well as my potential. I think of him whenever powering through a tough run or race as he used to say “running is a mental game - it’s all in your head." Coach Marton passed on a little over a year ago after a long battle with cancer but his immense legacy will live on forever.
I’m proud to achieve this goal while also having the opportunity to raise money for such an important cause. Cancer impacts every single life on this earth and the AACR works to lessen that impact.
This year, the AACR Runners for Research has the goal to raise $600,000 during Philadelphia Marathon Weekend. These funds will directly support the AACR’s mission to prevent and cure cancer through: Research, Education, Communication, Collaboration, Science Policy and Advocacy, and Funding for Cancer Research.
I'm super excited and am grateful for any and all support😊
