- How does a virtual 5k race event work?
Easy peasy. You sign up. You choose when you want to start and your favorite running location. Run or walk in one effort until you've reached 5 kilometers or 3.1 miles (best measured if using a fitness tracker like Asics RunKeeper). Take as many selfies along your effort and upload your results to our Public Finisher Results Page. Then you post about it on social media and let the bragging begin! - What is the registration process for a virtual 5k race event?
Head over to our Main Registration Page, use your RaceRoster login or for first time users fill out your information, choose an optional race shirt, and then you're all set. - Is there a specific mobile app or platform for tracking my distance and time for a virtual 5k race event?
You can use any fitness tracking app on your smart phone or smart watch to track your event progress. Be sure to download and use the Asics RunKeeper app in order to have seamless upload of your race finish time into our participant leaderboard.
(Asics RunKeeper available for free in the Apple iOS App Store & Google Play Store) - Are there specific dates or a time frame which I must complete the virtual 5k race event?
To make this event special and live up to its name, the virtual 5k race event experience will be available starting June 6th, 2023 on Global Running Day through Sunday June 11th, 2023. Result submissions close promptly Sunday June 11th, 2023 at 7PM CST. - Do I need any special equipment to participate in a virtual 5k race event?
No special equipment is required. We do suggest all participants to hydrate accordingly and possibly run or walk with a water/hydration bottle, and a cell phone for countless selfies...oh, and for emergency calls too. - Is there a minimum age requirement to participate in a virtual 5k race event?
There are no minimum age requirements for participation. If you bring your kiddos along for the fitness journey just be sure to keep an eye on them. They might run faster than you! - Will I receive a medal or other rewards for completing the virtual 5k race event?
Medals will be available and mailed out to the first 25 registrants! All participants will receive a digital finisher certificate upon completion. They will be emailed out so check your SPAM folders. - Can I choose my own route for this virtual 5k race event?
YES! Run or walk anywhere you want, even indoors on a treadmill. your race, your pace, your place! - Are there any safety guidelines or rules I should follow while participating in the virtual 5k race event?
We highly encourage all participants to adhere to local traffic and pedestrian laws/rules/regulations when it comes to running in both public or private streets, neighborhoods or parks, first and foremost.
Additionally, be mindful of inclement and/or harsh weather environments. - Can I participate in the virtual 5k race event if I live outside the country where the event is organized?
Yes! The registration platform is design to accept payments from different countries in different currencies. - How do I submit my results for the We Run The World virtual 5k race event?
You have two options:
1. Download and use the Asics RunKeeper app for a seamless upload of your race finish time into our participant leaderboard.
2. Head over to the event Results Page, click the "Submit a virtual result" button at the top of the screen, confirm your registration, then manually enter your race result finish time with the option to upload a picture as well.

But of course! Once you register you will receive your e-bib or electronic race evnt bib in your inbox. Print it, wear it, or simply photo-bomb your heart out with it before or after your run. We can't wait to see your finisher pics. Remember to tag #WeRunTheWorld - Will there be a participant shirt provided?
Yes! We have optional We Run The World virtual 5k race event shirt shirts available now for purchase. Get yours before Sunday June 11th, 2023 at 7PM CST. - Are there any specific instructions for uploading photos or sharing my virtual race experience on social media?
While an extremely smooth process, the good folks at RaceRoster can explain these instructions much better than we can. Find out how to upload an image HERE. - Can I participate in the We Run The World virtual 5k race event with a group of friends or family members?
Of course, the more the merrier! There is a team option upon registering that all are encouraged to use. Invite your friends, family, and co-workers. It's ok to run faster than your boss. - Is there a deadline for registration for the virtual 5k race event?
All good things must come to an end. Be sure to log your best, most fun effort between June 6th, 2023 (Global Running Day) and Sunday June 11th, 2023. Result submissions close promptly Sunday June 11th, 2023 at 7PM CST to ensure you are listed on our event leaderboards with everyone else. - Are there any specific guidelines regarding weather conditions or outdoor safety during this virtual 5k race event?
The We Run The World team always encourages the practice of "common sense running". Whiel there are no specified guidelines - ALWAYS run in public and/or indoors with your best situational awareness turned on. Be mindful of weather forecasts, location, road/trail conditions, park closures, gym atmosphere, etc. Remember that running with music although entertaining will always hinder you at least a little bit with one of your senses. Run smart, run hard. - Can I transfer or refund my registration if I'm unable to participate in the We Run The World virtual race event?
Up front, we host a no refund policy. The We Run The World 5k is a virtual event available to everyone, where ever they are, whenever they are available to tackle it within almost a full week's time. We are more than positive everyone will have the capability and availability to complete the challenge. But life happens, we get it. Because life typically doesn't seem to play fair and curveballs are what they are, each refund or registration transfer request (to another participant) will be measure on a case-by-case basis. - Are there any fundraising or charitable aspects associated with We Run The World virtual 5k race event?
