Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Facts:
Did you know that ABI is more common than breast cancer, spinal cord injury, HIV/AIDS, and multiple sclerosis, COMBINED? In the province of Ontario, where there are two million people diagnosed with a neurological condition; 500,000 people have an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) as a result of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and multiple Traumatic Brain Injuries (mTBI). In a company of 10 people that would be 4 people affected, or 10 people in a company of 40.
An Acquired Brain Injury has a clear beginning, as will the walk, but as an ABI doesn't have an end, neither will the walk. We'll walk around the park, where you'll learn about some of the challenges faced by individuals who've suffered one. |
To raise awareness and funds, I am hosting the 8th Brain Injury Awareness Walk on June 3, 2023 at Andrew Haydon Park.
The success of the launch night, and with working with sponsors, joining the walk is free!
All that I ask is that everyone collects at least $20 in pledges. The sponsors are awesome, all of them, because they've offered prizes the greater the total pledges that are collected! Everyone who joins will be able to pick up from Head Office Ottawa their welcome kit, when they're available, which has a collection of awesome items! Everyone will receive a note when they're ready for pick-up!
There will be a "Celebration Line", where people will be asked to cross the 500m leading to it in a way that's more challenging. This event is going to be covered in the media (television, print, and published online), so please know that by registering you're agreeing to having your image displayed publicly. If you do not wish for your name to be displayed please send a note to Robert Wein, and every effort will be taken to, but it might still appear.
With the cost of issuing receipts, a minimum pledge of $20 is required in order to receive a receipt.
All of the funds collected will be
directed to the these charities

Awareness Walk Closed
The point of the walk is to do it, no matter how far nor how long it will take you, because simply doing it is all that matters.
