Mackay turns on pristine running conditions for the more than 3,000 participants who take part each year, many traveling to Mackay in the first week-end in June.
Scheduled four weeks out from the Gold Coast Marathon, the BMA Mackay Marina Run is a signature event on the Mackay Road Runners’ calendar. The 21.1km half marathon is scenic, flat and fast.
The event's major fundraising beneficiary is the Leukaemia Foundation.
Postrace photography, as official photographers donate 10% of each year's sales to the Leukaemia Foundation.
Mackay is a booming regional Queensland city, located half way between Brisbane and Cairns. The event precinct and the finish line is the boat ramp end of the Mackay Marina Village, Mulherin Drive, Mackay Harbour. The start line is on the picturesque Mackay Marina Breakwater, near the yacht club approx 200m south of the event precinct.
All trophies are hand crafted from preloved Mackay Sugar cane railway sleepers; uniquely Mackay.
