My Story…
For as long as I can remember, the idea of a marathon has felt like this untouchable cloud over my head -- it looked really cool and it'd be great if I could be up there one day, but I wasn't quite sure if that was ever even possible. And then, I started running. 1 mile became 2, 2 miles became 4, I took some (months-long) breaks here and there, but I never stopped. Now, I've built up to 12 miles, a feat my couple-weeks-ago self would've never imagined, and I am committing to the marathon!
I want to prove to myself what's possible through dedication, consistency, and pure willpower. I want to enjoy the process -- pushing myself, being outside, exploring the world, and running. And of course, I want to do this all with a purpose greater than myself.
Throughout this journey, my goal is not only to just finish the race, but also to raise at least $500 for the Homeless Children's Education Fund! This non-profit organization supports the education of homeless children throughout Allegheny County (the county my university CMU is located in). The cause is very close to my heart, as I strongly believe in the power of an education and the right that every child has -- regardless of their financial background -- to the opportunity to succeed. I would greatly appreciate any donation, from $1 to however much you have to give, and thank you so so much for stopping by!
