Help Emily raise money

My Story…

This picture represents a very happy time for me and my family. My brothers had just PR'd their second half marathon (first Pittsburgh race) and I got to experience it right along side them - very proud sister moment. Of course, our #1 fan, our mama. was there to cheer us on. This was a special time for her as well. She had just hit her 5 year mark for being in remission - a milestone that many cancer survivors hope to reach.

Fast forward 6 months after this picture was taken and I get a call from mom. She found lump in her chest and went to UPMC to get it looked out. She received some bad news. The cancer was back - despite the double mastectomy and countless chemo treatments she had underwent years prior.

Today, she is back on chemo and all we've been able to do is sit and wait....and try to avoid googling survival statistics and other webMD information that can take you down a deep hole.

This is my "why". In a little over a month, once again, I will be running the Pittsburgh Half Marathon with the American Cancer Society in the hopes of making a small dent in the effort to eradicate this terrible disease. Any support you can provide would truly mean the world to me. For those who have already shown support and love to me and my family: Thank you ❤️

Description

Why I Am Participating in the Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend to Support the American Cancer Society

For the first time in history, the American Cancer Society's mission is at risk - including their ability to fund cancer research. The American Cancer Society needs to be here to help patients face cancer with comprehensive support, but they need our help to be able to do so. Every dollar will truly make a difference right now.

Taking part in this event gives me the chance to make a difference and honor those touched by cancer by raising funds for groundbreaking research and services for people dealing with cancer. I'm also participating to inspire hope for those facing the disease and raising money for the American Cancer Society's event to help save lives from cancer.  I hope you'll consider signing up too.

Funds raised support cancer patient programs and groundbreaking research that can help save lives. This event also celebrates over 15.5 million cancer survivors nationwide. 15.5 MILLION. That's huge. That's why I'd love your support. Will you join me? And if you can't would you be so kind as to make a donation?
