Our story…
The 3 Wishes Project is celebrating 10 years at SJHH! Please help us reach our team goal of raising over $20,000.
We are very excited to be participating in the 2023 Around the Bay Road Race (ATB) and hope that you’ll consider supporting our team to raise funds for the 3 Wishes Project at St. Joe’s. We appreciate the encouragement to expand the 3 Wishes Project to our medical wards, surgical wards and beyond, but still need your help to reach our fundraising goal. Our goal is to make the 3 Wishes Project available to all dying patients across the SJHH organization and to continue inspiring a community of caring at organizations worldwide. Every dollar we raise together will be for our dying patients and their families. Thank you for considering!
“I have good memories about Mom’s passing in regards to how thoughtful, kind, and caring they were. They went out of their way to make everything so peaceful for her.“ [Family Member]
“The 3WP is a program that allows hospitals to fulfill that mission of really delivering compassionate quality care with acts of kindness. I think it is such a demonstrative way to really show how we care about the patients and the families.” [Clinician]
Please see below to learn more about the 3 Wishes Project
The 3 Wishes Project was founded in the SJHH intensive care unit in January 2013. We began the 3 Wishes Project to recognize our dying patients' inherent dignity and forge connections among patients, family members and clinicians to try to ease the grieving process. This is achieved by eliciting and implementing wishes that are meaningful at the end of life. Wishes are typically simple and inexpensive, yet experienced positively - a taste of food or beverage under the tongue, a visit by the family pet, favourite music playing in the room, a final toast, or surrounding the patient with things and people they love. This low technology, low risk, low cost project needs your help to continue to provide compassionate end of life care for our dying patients. Thank you for caring!

Description
Welcome to our team fundraising page!
We are very excited to be participating in the 2023 Around the Bay Road Race (ATB) in support of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation. This cause is very important to us because St. Joe’s is in many ways the heart of Hamilton – nearly everyone in our community has been touched by the incredible patient care they provide.
Funds raised through this year’s Bay Race will support the following vital projects at St. Joe’s:
- Bringing the latest in breast cancer diagnostic imaging equipment to our Hospital. This includes items like a Digital Breast Tomosynthesis machine that provides 3-D mammograms and a breast biopsy coil to support MRI screening for patients at a higher-risk of aggressive cancers.
- Giving Babies and Families the Best Start Possible. We’re raising funds to help renew our 11 birthing rooms and expand our Special Care Nursery. With your help, we’ll be able to offer babies and families the very best start possible in units built just for them! New features will include enhanced infection control materials, dimmable lighting, and décor elements that are inspired by nature. The new birthing rooms will help parents to deliver their baby in the way that feels most comfortable for them. While the expanded special care nursery will help us to care for more babies who need a little extra love and medical attention.
We hope that you’ll consider supporting our team as we take on the Around the Bay Road Race and raise funds for St. Joe’s. We are encouraged by the support we've already received, but still need your help to reach our fundraising goal. Every dollar we raise together will support hope, healing and discovery at St. Joe’s.
Thanks for your support!
