My Story…
In what became the last conversation I ever had with Erin Murphy before she unexpectedly passed away in October, I told her about my desire to complete a Half Marathon to strike it off the bucket list. What I learned from her sudden departure from this world, is that no one is guaranteed tomorrow. So I decided to register and will run in her honour and hope to raise money to support Crohn's & Colitis Canada.
Erin struggled with Crohn's for most of her adult life but she never let it stop her. She was a fighter and an inspiration to all who met her. I have a teenage Niece who struggles with Crohn's and many close friends. I'm running this race and creating this Team to support everyone that struggles with IBD.
With my lofty goal of raising $25K, I hope to make I make treatments accessible/affordable to all who need it. Improve the quality of life of those who suffer with Crohn's and also fund groundbreaking research to find new treatments for all who suffer from this horrible, debilitating disease.
Erin Murphy was a local hero. An exceptional Nurse at the Alberta Children's Hospital with the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. She spent so much of her life in hospital beds as a kid, that she became a Pediatric ICU Nurse to pay it forward. She received a commendation from a Patient's family the day after she passed, citing Erin as the reason their child is still alive. She was a shining star and a very dear friend. Help me reach my goal, support me in any way you can and let's help other's in memory of Erin Murphy.
Rest peacefully Erin Murphy! Sarah, the kids and I love you and miss you dearly.
