My Story…
This year I've decided to run my first 26.2 mile marathon. Its been a challenging 18-weeks of training, with my long training runs ranging from -15 degree winter days (where my water and food all froze solid!), to rain-soaked ocean trails on Vancouver Island, and sun burn hot sunny days running on the prairies.
In addition to the personal challenge, I'll be running in support of the Calgary-based Childrens Cottage Society. They work hard to support families and children in our community and are currently building their new crisis nursery and family center in Montgomery! Description
Children’s Cottage Society is dedicated to building strong healthy children and safe nurturing families through prevention programs and support services. We work with families to increase protective factors and decrease risk factors as a strategy to promote child development, effective and nurturing parenting, and to support and strengthen family functioning. These efforts keep our promise to children, "to help your parents keep you safe so that you can grow up to be healthy and happy.”
