My Story…
My brother Kiran was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) in Oct 2017 at 20 months old. It's a chronic condition with no cure. He received steroid injections in his joints in Nov 2017. He’s had no symptoms ever since, which our family is incredibly grateful for. Most people are not as lucky as us. Kiran is now playing soccer for the first time, and also taking karate.
In 2017 we discovered Cassie and Friends, a charity that helps kids with juvenile arthritis. They’ve been expanding their footprint in Calgary and across Canada ever since. Thanks to funding from this run the pediatric rheumatology clinic at the Alberta Children’s Hospital has received two new ultrasound probes, a skeleton, training models for joint injections, and even iPads. C+F also offers an amazing virtual education program which has really expanded since COVID.
