Against the Tide Virtual Event
June 17 – August 12, 2023

Against the Tide is a family-friendly, multi-sport event to benefit the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC). MBCC is the only non-profit in the state dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer from environmental causes. The funds raised through Against the Tide help to support and expand our community education program Let’s Talk Prevention: Reducing Toxic Exposures, MBCC Webinar Series, and the newly-expanded student environmental health program, Let’s Talk Prevention: Actions You Can Take. We are grateful to all of you who help prioritize breast cancer prevention. Above and beyond your commitment to participate in the Against the Tide event, we hope that you will also fundraise on behalf of MBCC and our important mission to change the legacy of breast cancer for future generations. Refunds are not allowed for this event.

Due to the rising costs, MBCC will no longer conduct mailing operations. As such, virtual participants will not receive an event t-shirt or bib; instead, virtual participants will be emailed virtual bibs by Second Wind Timing.

PARTICIPATE IN ANY EVENT FROM JUNE 17 TO AUGUST 12

By registering for any single virtual event component, you will be able to submit results to any, or all, of the events you would like to virtually participate in.

That means you have two months to participate in as many virtual Against the Tide components that you want.

Starting Friday June 16th, all registered runners/walkers will be provided with an online time submission link, direct from our timing friends at Second Wind Timing. Any day from June 16th - August 12th you can swim or run and then record and submit your time; if you are walking, you do not need to submit a time.

Runners and swimmers are also asked to submit ‘proof of time,' either a photo of your GPS watch screen, or a screenshot of your smartphone running app showing distance/time. Results will be scored and award certificates will be emailed out to all participants.

*Runners that register in the middle of our virtual race dates will receive their Second Wind Timing invite email by the Monday following their registration.
