My Story…
I first ran this race in 2007 with my BFF, who in April 2022 lost her life to lung cancer. She will continue to be with me on every run that I do, so I am running for her and for Lung Cancer Canada.
Brigitte was first my Ultimate frisbee teammate, then my training partner, a BFF, and became like family. Ottawa Race Weekend was a favourite event of hers, beginning with that first 10K together, and running became something that brought her much joy & peace. Brigitte's lung cancer diagnosis, in 2020, was devastating, for herself, her family, and all of us around her.
Whether you would like to join me to run the 10K together, or to run or walk any other event as part of the Lung Cancer Canada team, or simply to support efforts to raise funds for Lung Cancer Canada, it is hard to imagine a more fitting way to honour her and so many others who have tragically lost their lives to lung cancer.
Brigitte's indomitable spirit truly does live on in the incredible number of people she has touched, profoundly. We will carry her in our hearts on this day and forever.
