Help us raise money

For participating in Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend 2023

Our story…

CANCER,  that “C” word everyone dreads to hear. When the doctor tells a person, they have cancer, their whole world comes to a stop. Life takes a drastic change for them and their family as they start down that treatment road. Life is a gift, so we need to live every day to the fullest, Live Well, Laugh often, Love much (Our family motto).

Tom Clapp is my name, Jan is my wife, and we live in Winchester, which is part of an active and supportive community known as North Dundas consisting of towns such as Chesterville, South Mountain, Hallville, Morrisburg, Morewood and more, plus a vibrant agricultural community.

I recently celebrated my 80th birthday and am also a 12-year prostate cancer survivor. Thanks to early detection and treatment, I can live my life to the fullest, enjoying my family and community. I have gained a great appreciation for the treatments provided by the Ottawa Hospital for cancer patients.

In the Winchester area, we have had a very active prostate cancer awareness group, the Black Walnut group, that created awareness and raised funds. We hosted many fund-raising programs an partnered with the Ottawa Hospital Foundation, the WDMH Foundation, Ride for Dad Ottawa, Nation Valley ATV Club, and the Prostate Cancer Support Ottawa. Through our fundraising programs, 50/50 draws, and our “Dare to Flash a Stache” event, we have raised over $200,000.  Please note that 50% of these funds were given to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation for cancer research, which leveraged additional research support 10:1.

The other 50% went to the WDMH Foundation to continue to support the Cancer Care Navigator Program to assist local cancer patients and their families on their cancer journey.

So now, to complete my bucket list, I would like to raise funds to support cancer research at The Ottawa Hospital and the Cancer Care Navigation Fund at Winchester District Memorial Hospital.

My team goal is to raise $80,000. 50% of the funds will support the Cancer Care Navigator Fund and 50% to Cancer research.  Please note that with every dollar provided to cancer research, The Ottawa Hospital will leverage additional research support 10:1.

So please support and let’s fight Cancer!!!

A very sincere thank you to the team and to everyone who supported this “bucket list” project in any way. The team is growing each day and thanks to all the leaders who are joining me on this Bucket List:
