IVS Bridge to Bridge Run - Springdale
The Most Serene 4 Mile Race Between Bridges
Since it's inaugural running in 2012, the Bridge to Bridge 4 mile race has become one of the premier running events in the area.
Because of Road Closures, the 2023 Bridge to Bridge Run will be through historic Springdale Cemetery across three bridges on a unique course that utilizes a new bridge on the Rock Island Greenway for the FIRST time.
Bridge to Bridge 23 in Springdale Cemetery has a unique venue with FOUR bridge crossings … no race has previously used the newly opened section of the Rock Island Greenway and pedestrian bridge over War Memorial Drive … a challenging course, wonderful swag, great food (provided by the Olive Garden – Pasta, Meat Balls, Marinara, and the World Famous Olive Garden breadsticks), and good refreshment.

Course
The 2023 race starts on the East side of the boulevard in lower Glen Oak Park at 7:00 A.M.
The course goes north on and turns to the left and circles back to the South on the West side of the boulevard and at the end of the island turns to the East and enters the Rock Island Greenway trail. Following the trail to the entrance to Springdale Cemetery, the course bears to the right and immediately crosses over a bridge, turns to the left, and winds to the right along the base of Rose Hill for about 200 yards, and makes an acute turn at the first opportunity and progresses and winds up and around Rose hill, continuing to turn to the right, and continues past the Springdale Cemetery Savannah at the top of the hill. Making a large irregular clockwise semi-circle, the course crosses an intersecting road and passes straight ahead past a road to the right and turns left. Continuing, the course follows to the right at every intersection, turning briefly down a hill before another right turn, then turning right on a curbed carriage lane through a dip to another right turn and up a grade toward the Mausoleum. Keeping to, and turning to the right, the hill peaks in front of the mausoleum and follows a steep down hill path to another right turn to an underpass (War Memorial Drive), up a hill to another right turn, and follows the road to the cemetery boundary where the course continues straight ahead to the Southeast along the edge of Ruppman Plaza and the turns East onto Harvard Ave, and crosses N. Harvard Ave. where the course turns to the right onto the Rock Island Greenway. Following the Rock Island Greenway in a Southwesterly direction, the course crosses over the War Memorial Drive bridge and proceeds along the Greenway, crossing Vine St and turning to the right (West) at Park Ave. Following Park Ave. to the West and crossing Perry Ave, the course turns to the left, rejoining the Rock Island Greenway trail, crossing the bridge and turning left. Exiting the Rock Island Greenway trail with an acute right hand turn, the finish line is about 50 yards to the North along the Boulevard in Lower Glen Oak Park.
Aid stations and water will be available near mile one, mile two, and mile three markers and at the start/finish line.
