Journey 1,000kms through the rooftop of Australia along backcountry trails, across exposed high plains, through snow gum woodlands and among tall native forests.
Riders will be pedalling from Melbourne to Canberra and aiming for a grand finish, rather than a grand depart, on Sat the 2nd Dec 2023 in Canberra. This is not a race but an adventure and your departure date is up to you.
The Hunt 1000, created by Dan Hunt in 2016, offers an incredible bikepacking experience that connects Melbourne to Canberra, showcasing the breathtaking beauty of Australia's high country. Along the route, you'll discover picturesque campsites and historic alpine huts, encounter limited resupply points, and face a challenge or two including hike-a-bike sections and river crossings. Each year, the route is refreshed to unveil new trails and create a fresh adventure in this extraordinary land. Embracing the Kosciuszko, Alpine, and Namadgi National Parks, the Hunt 1000 immerses you in the heart of remote and distinctly Australian alpine wilderness areas. You'll traverse vast distances atop the world as you navigate the weaving network of fire trails, alpine paths, gravel tracks, and country roads. The trail conditions and elevation profile of the Hunt 1000 authentically embody the raw and unpredictable nature of the alpine weather, setting the scene for a beautiful challenge that will etch unforgettable memories.

Please note, refunds will NOT be issued. However, riders will have the option to transfer their registration to another rider (fee to be negotiated by you).

You are registering for a half Hunt 1000. You will depart from the midway checkpoint (Omeo) and ride the second half of the route, approx 500km, aiming to finish on Sat the 2nd Dec in Canberra with the Hunt 1000 riders. Registrations close 12th Nov 2023
