Help Ted raise money

For participating in The Braestone Winter Classic

My Story…

This year, I'm playing for a number of special people.

I'm playing in memory of my brother, Jeff, the absolute best person you'd ever want at a pond hockey tourney.

I'm playing for my cousin, Jim Shasky, who would have liked to play but is busy fighting the good fight against cancer.

I'm playing in memory of Bill Oatway - who received treatment for several years at The Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre at RVH.

I'm playing in memory of my father-in-law, Jim Brooker, who passed this year - but beat previously cancer with more courage than you've ever seen.

And I'm playing in memory of Sue's Uncle Merv James who was treated for his cancer at RVH and also passed this year. Merv was quite the hockey player in his day.

Description

This February, I am lacing up my skates and participating in the Braestone Winter Classic pond hockey tournament, supporting patient care at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) and the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre to help support cancer care close to home.

In order to live our best lives, we need access to great, life-saving care right here at home. That’s one of the advantages of living in Simcoe County. We get to enjoy incredible outdoor spaces and fun winter activities — like pond hockey — knowing RVH is just down the road when we need it. The Braestone Winter Classic is an incredible fundraising event that brings us full-circle. It’s an opportunity to enjoy our beautiful surroundings while raising money to expand cancer care right here in our community.

The funds raised will support the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre at RVH. Donations will allow RVH to expand its space, upgrade its technology and provide leading-edge treatment for more types of cancers. All this means less commuting, shorter hospital stays, as few treatments as necessary and reduced recovery times. Your support of the Braestone Winter Classic gives our neighbours and loved ones living with cancer more time to spend enjoying the good life all around us.
