My Story…
This year I’m running for my late father-in-law, Andy Ahonen, whose 61st birthday would’ve landed on October 8th - the date of the 2023 Victoria Marathon.
Andy was an incredible, loving, and giving man whose life was cut much too short due to a brain aneurysm in late 2022. There are so many lovely things one could say about Andy, but a couple of things that really stuck out about him was how much he loved his children and team sports. In line with both of his loves, it’s no surprise that Andy was a longtime coach for kid’s soccer and hockey in Coquitlam, BC, dedicating much of his time to developing BC’s youngest athletes.
When deciding which organization to donate to, our family decided on KidSport due to the close ties it had with Andy’s coaching. Andy loved that KidSport provided grants to help cover the costs of registration fees so that kids, who may otherwise not be able to, can play a season of sport. He believed that everyone should be able to be involved in sports, despite their personal circumstance.
My goal is to raise $3,000 before October 8th, 2023. Please consider donating to KidSport through my donation link for the Victoria Marathon. All donations are greatly appreciated and will 100% be donated to KidSport.
