My Story…
Hi Everyone,
This year I am going to be running the Bluenose 10K as part of the Irving Shipbuilding Team for the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.
After being diagnosed with severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in 2012 due to an incident that happened beyond my control in 2011. This was to have a profound affect on my life from then on, unfortunately opening up a whole catalyst of traumatic events spanning over 30 years.
After serving 24 years in the military, I decided I needed to make a clean break for both my health and sanity, so in 2014 I retired from the military and moved to Nova Scotia from the UK. I have extremely good days and extremely low days, but thanks to my long term partner and mum, friends and help and support since moving to Nova Scotia , I have been able to move forward with my life and learn to deal with the harder days. Now is my time to give back to the people and organisations that have helped me and continue to help others, with mental health issues and say a huge thank you for all that you do and continue to do. I know that financial times are so very difficult for us all right now, so I am grateful for anything you could spare.
A heartfelt gratitude to you all.
Kindest regards,
Sarah.
