FYIs for the Yeti Trail Half:
-Online sign ups close on Friday, February 24th at 7:00 am. There will be race day sign ups beginning at 7:15 am. Race day fee is $65 Venmo, check or cash please have exact change if possible.
-The race occurs at Bluhm County Park the address is 3855 S 1100 W, Westville, IN 46391
-We are doing old school manual timing so PLEASE wear your bib on the front our shirt. We will be recording your loops as you come into the start/finish area.
-We are central time same Chicago so please keep that in mind for those on Eastern Time Zone. Start time is 8:00 am and packet pick-up begins at 7:15 am. You are welcome to come to the park earlier than that I will be there at 4:30 am getting the last-minute course details done.
-We will be a Grove Shelter that is only shelter located in the park and it is outdoor. We will be using the Multi-use trails west of the shelter.
-I was on the course on Thursday to begin the marking. Forecast calls for rain on Wednesday so maybe muddy on Sunday. The course link here: https://www.relive.cc/view/vQvxp8GNX9v My Garmin 310 XT measure long so the course total maybe near 13.5-13.7 miles depending on your watch. Do not worry the extra distance is free.
-Temperatures will be in 30’s for race day. Listen, you will not achieve a trail half PR in this race. Just have fun and enjoy the outdoors. I highly recommended Yak Tracks or Ice Spikes or trail shoes with aggressive sole pattern to improve traction as it will be muddy, snowy and wet. If you interested in using Ice Spikes, I have some extra ones I can bring to the race. If you are not familiar with the product check out their website https://www.icespike.com
-Course is 4 loops around the park. Most of the course is single track dirt trails with switchbacks and tree roots. Please beware there are trees down on the trail and roots please be cautious. I advise you to take it easy the first loop. The course would be marked with flags, arrow signs and survey tape on trees. PLEASE follow the markings NOT the runner in front of you.
-One aid station will be provided at the shelter with water, Gatorade, Honey Stinger Waffles, gels and other pre-package snacks. You will be near your cars and bathrooms each loop so if there is certain aid you need you can get it then. We will have a picnic table set up if you like to leave items there for each loop. There is no aid on the course.
-No awards ceremony if you win overall winners will receive Ice Spikes, Yeti figure and Starbucks gift card. ALL people that finish the race will be able to pick an item from the “prize table”. Items include old race shirts, mugs and hats.
