My Story…
I'm running the 5K to put more fairness into the world. Growing up, I had an excellent free education through secondary school, and a subsidized university education -- just because I happened to be born in Canada. Young people in many other parts of the world don't have those advantages. In Kenya, for example, secondary school is financially out of reach for many poor families' children, and university a distant dream.
Community Education Services is a joint venture between the Canadian team, which raises funds and provides strategic leadership, and the Kenyan team, which makes sure that donor funds help the most bright but needy students. CES helps provide some fairness so that they're able to gain the benefits otherwise available mostly for just wealthy families in Kenya.
Over the past 20 years, we've stood behind hundreds of young Kenyans as they've gained an education and marketable skills, and are now building a better life for themselves and their families. I've been honoured to meet many of our students and graduates on my visits to western Kenya where we operate.
Your contribution here will help give more of these promising young people a better future.
