My Story…
Over the last 25 years, more than 2000 people have called Matthew House home.
That's 2000 stories and 2000 reasons to come to Canada in search of safety, and for protection from persecution.
This year, two of our newest residents are lacing up their runners to participate in the Marathon. L and I are young but they've got huge dreams. L is the more talkative of the two - her giggle is infectious. One day she wants to be a gynecologist but today, it's all about hair (and eating - "I love to eat!" she says. Cue the giggles). L also loves adventures and wants to visit Bali, the Maldives and Paris some day.
I is more reserved, but she lights up when she's talking about her dream: to become an engineer. "Usually," she notes, "I'm at the gym, running."
Matthew House will be here for the girls for as long as they need us, providing shelter, food, family and possibility for them and other refugee claimants like them. Please give generously to show the Matthew House Girls that they are welcome in Canada!
Donate to help The Matthew House raise money for 2023 TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon’s fundraising campaign.
