Rexburg RUSH Triathlon at Wakeside Lake
The REXBURG RUSH will be held on Saturday, June 17th , 2023, at Wakeside Lake in Rexburg. This triathlon will include BOTH Sprint & Olympic distances.
All disciplines will be at Wakeside Lake on the South end of Rexburg, home of BYU-Idaho.
This race is a first in a 3 race series happening in Eastern Idaho---DO THE TRIFECTA in 2023! Tri Peaks Epic Events is the event producer!

sprint course description
SPRINT SWIM – 0.51 MILES
The SWIM portion of the REXBURG RUSH will take place at WAKESIDE LAKE in Rexburg. The SPRINT racers will complete ONE lap around the buoy’s in the lake. Start time for the SPRINT race will be between 8:00-8:30.
SPRINT BIKE – 12.9 MILES
The BIKE section of the REXBURG RUSH will be a mostly flat course. SPRINT racers will do just 1 LAP where the OLYMPIC racers will do 2. The bike section will begin at the Southeast corner of the lake onto the Frontage / McCulloch Road. Racers will continue South veering right onto McCulloch Road/3200 South until they turn LEFT onto Burton Loop Road/S. 4000 West, continuing until they turn RIGHT onto 2800 S/Bob Frew Road, continuing West until they turn RIGHT onto 6100 West, heading North until racers turn RIGHT onto West 3200 South/Burma Road for a short distance then veering North. Racers will continue on W. 3200 Road/Burma Road and again veering North (NOT Burton Oil Road / W. 200 S) and then East onto W. 1000 South and continuing all the way back to turn RIGHT onto South 2000 West/Frontage / McCulloch Road, returning to WAKESIDE LAKE transition area.
There will be volunteers and police at all major intersections—Use CAUTION on all corners and watch for gravel, cattle, and random farm sprinklers! Again, there will be a minor AID STATION that will have bottles of water only at West 3200 Road S and West 1000 South corner. You will be coached on where to dismount your bike and get ready for your run.
SPRINT RUN – 3.21 MILES
The RUN portion of the REXBURG RUSH will have just 1 LAP where the OLYMPIC RACERS will do 2. Racers will exit the transition area heading South for a very short few feet and turning RIGHT onto W. 2600 South, and then turning RIGHT onto S. 3000 West/Kennedy Road until they turn RIGHT onto W. 2000 S/Burton Oil Road until they hit McCulloch Road/Frontage Road/S. 2000 W. and returning to WAKESIDE LAKE—remember, JUST 1 LAP!
We will have volunteers at all major road crossings to guide runners on the course. There will be an AID STATION on the corner of 3000 W/Kennedy Road and W. 2000 S/Burton Oil Road with water/Gatorade. Run hard…there is a FINISHER MEDAL waiting for you after you pass the FINISH ARCH!
OLYMPIC Course Description
OLYMPIC SWIM–.90 MILES
The SWIM portion of the REXBURG RUSH will take place at WAKESIDE LAKE in Rexburg. The OLYMPIC racers will complete TWO LAPS around the buoy’s in the lake. Racers will exit the swim just North of the starting point. Start time for the OLYMPIC race will be between 7:30 and 8 am.
OLYMPIC BIKE—25.8 MILES
The BIKE section of the REXBURG RUSH will be a mostly flat course. OLYMPIC racers will do 2 LAPS where the SPRINT racers will do just 1. The bike section will begin at the Southeast corner of the lake onto the Frontage / McCulloch Road. Racers will continue South veering right onto McCulloch Road/3200 South until they turn LEFT onto Burton Loop Road/S. 4000 West, continuing until they turn RIGHT onto 2800 S/Bob Frew Road, continuing West until they turn RIGHT onto 6100 West, heading North until racers turn RIGHT onto West 3200 South/Burma Road for a short distance then veering North. Racers will continue on W. 3200 Road/Burma Road and again veering North (NOT Burton Oil Road / W. 200 S) and then East onto W. 1000 South and continuing all the way back to turn RIGHT onto South 2000 West/Frontage / McCulloch Road, returning to WAKESIDE LAKE transition area and then completing LAP 2 of the same course.
OLYMPIC RUN—6.15 MILES
The RUN portion of the REXBURG RUSH will have 2 LAPs where the SPRINT racers only do 1. Racers will exit the transition area heading South for a very short few feet and turning RIGHT onto W. 2600 South, and then turning RIGHT onto S. 3000 West/Kennedy Road until they turn RIGHT onto W. 2000 S/Burton Oil Road until they hit McCulloch Road/Frontage Road/S. 2000 W. until you hit the NORTH END of WAKESIDE LAKE, where you will run around the lake, returning to the transition area—remember, 2 LAPS! Be sure to follow the signs at the transition area to begin LAP 2.
We will have volunteers at all major road crossings to guide runners on the course. There will be an AID STATION on the corner of 3000 W/Kennedy Road and W. 2000 S/Burton Oil Road with water/Gatorade. You will pass this aid station twice, so do not pass up getting hydrated! Run hard…there is a FINISHER MEDAL waiting for you after you pass the FINISH ARCH!
There will be the following 6 categories in the SPRINT & OLYMPIC divisions of the race. There will be trophies for the OVERALL WINNER (Male & Female), and metal awards for both 1st and 2nd place in each of the categories for each division, for both men and women. Any category changes for participants must be handled by 12 pm Friday in order to get the information to the timing company.

Rexburg RUSH Post Race Awards
Stick around after the race as we will have an award presentation! Trophy’s will be awarded to the overall SPRINT & OLYMPIC distance winners, plus medals to the 1st and 2nd place finishers in each category for both male and female. There will also be some other great prizes and swag given away plus and additional trophy for the MICHAEL HAYES INSPIRATIONAL AWARD. Don’t miss this ceremony!
