We will be arriving by 8:00 to set up sign-ups, and ready to go by 8:15
If bad weather including rain and lightning this event may be postponed or even canceled.
This is a point-to-point ride with aid stations along the way, a marked course, and lunch/beverage waiting at the finish.
You have to find your Own Transportation to the start and/or from the finish.
Look at the sign-ups and you might know someone you could make the trip with.

It is mandatory to have a navigation device with the route file on it, the course will be marked but it is still very easy to get turned around. See route files below. Flour, arrows, and cones will be used as course markings.
The "Full Tour" starts at Smith Sports Complex in Durango, Colorado and ends at Lions Wilderness Park in Farmington, NM. Following your GPS device and course markings. You will start by heading down College Dr. to 8th Ave turning right on Santa Rita Dr then left onto Hwy. 160/550 Then head south until reaching CR 210 where you will turn right and climb past Lake Nighthorse. Once you climb up Lake Nighthorse the course markings become more obvious and you will soon hit the gravel.
Continue climbing on CR 210 until you reach CR 141 (Wildcat Canyon Rd.) Turn left on Wildcat Canyon for a few more miles until CR 136 (Long Hollow Dr.) This is where the payment section ends, and the gravel riding begins. Expect a combination of fast rolling, smooth, and washboard gravel roads with breath taking views. Continuing your way south, turn left on CR. 138, passing through the Southern Ute Land into New Mexico. (DO NOT LEAVE THE COUNTY ROADWAY PASSING THROUGH SOUTHERN UTE, THIS IS CONSIDERED TRESPASSING AND COULD RESULT IN REPERCUSSIONS)
Once you cross the state line into New Mexico you will follow a few more miles of gravel roads until the Big Apple Trail or the Big apple bypass. This is where the single-track portion starts, or you can skip this part of the route. We recommend gravel bikes skip this portion of the ride cutting out roughly 8 miles of single track that has soft sandy spots. All are bikes welcome, gravel bikes are recommended to take the gravel route or anyone who wants to skip out on the sandy single track.
The Big apple trail is 8ish miles that follows along a Ridgeline that loses elevation. It isn't all downhill and has a combination of smooth, soft, and fast single track. Once you cross N Light Plant Road you are now onto the Road Apple Trail.
The Road Apple trail is known for being smooth, fast rolling and has whoop like features which make it a lot of fun. Some say it feels like a roller coaster at speeds.

Aid stations are at mile 16 and 44 with water, electrolytes and snacks.
The "Dirt Lovers Only Tour" starts at Hwy. 550 & San Juan County Rd. No parking is allowed here, please get dropped off if you are doing this ride. You will take CR. 2300 over a mesa, past a cattle ranch through Cox Canyon wash before reaching the East rim of Kiffen Canyon.
You will follow the east rim of the canyon taking in some amazing views until dropping into the bottom of Kiffen Canyon. Riders then climb up to the Big Apple trail connecting to the single track portion of the ride. This is where the "Full Tour" and "Dirt Lovers Only" tour meet and travel along the same route. This is also where you can find the gravel bypass route for you gravel bikers.
After following the big apple trail for around 5 miles riders will cross N. Light Plant road and join up with the Road Apple Trail. Here is where all 3 routes meet up and they all take the same trail to the finish.

The "Tiny Dirt Tour" starts at N. Light Plant Rd. following the Road Apple Trail. Riders will experience 13 miles of smooth and fast flowing single-track. This is a common place for riders to meet up with friends who might be doing the longer portions of the ride. There's no better way to bring in the tour than with your family and friends. This is also the friendliest option we have to offer. No parking is allowed here, please get dropped off and carpool.
The Road Apple Trail system is known for being smooth, fast rolling and has whoop like features. It is often said it feels like riding a roller coaster at speeds. The Road Apple Trails are low in technical demand and high in smooth terrain making it great for beginner riders.
