Triathlon Event options
Sprint/Short Triathlons- Standard distance is a 750m swim, 20km(12.4 mile) bike and 5K run. Many Sprints differ from these distances especially on the bike as it's difficult to obtain the exact distances on existing roadways. The run distance might not be 5k if for example a race wants the run around a lake, that distance might not be 3.1 miles. These usually will still be called Sprints but may be called Short or other name instead of Sprint.
Olympic/Intermediate Triathlons - Standard distance is 1500m (0.93 miles), 40km (24.8 miles) and 10km (6.2 miles) and is based upon the the official lengths for the Olympics. When an 'Olympic' triathlon varies from the official distances is it called Intermediate.
Relays - There are relays for Sprint and Intermediate distances where two or three athletes can join together as a team to complete the distance.
Aqua-Bikes - Cazenovia has the additional options of aqua-bikes where an individual racer performs the swim and bike for either the Sprint or Intermediate distance; no running event. Your official time will end when you cross the timing mat after you finish the bike course. Rack your bike and please jog the 150 yards to the finish line to receive your finisher medal. There will be no "podium" award medals for this event due to anticipated low participation, insufficient age groups.
NEW! Bike-Run event - Athletes with perform the sprint distance for the bike and run. Cyclists will be held in the transition area in your special area with your bike until the 10th swimmer enters the transition. The cyclists will then be allowed to do the Sprint bike course and onto the Sprint run course completing the race at the finish line. There will be no "podium" award medals for this event due to anticipated low participation, insufficient age groups.
Relay Teams
Sprint and Intermediate
The team captain selects Sprint or Intermediate relay, creates the team name and registers all team members. Team captain registers as the first person on the team, then adds second and or third team member. Captain needs to know name, date of birth, sex, email address, phone, etc. of other team members. Team captain pays the entire entry fee. Team members reimburse team captain.
Packet Pickup
Be kind and helpful; pick up early.
Please pick up your registration packet on either Friday or Saturday prior to the race. There will be limited race day pick up primarily for out-of-towners. Race day is very hectic and stressful; volunteers are hard to find for early morning hours and they don't need added stress. Avoid confusion, panic, delays by securing your race bib and other materials on Friday or Saturday. Thank you!
Packet pick up will be:
When: Friday, August 18, 2:00 to 5:30 PM
Saturday, August 19th, 11:00 to 2:00pm and 2:00 to 5:00pm

Athletes can use up to 30" along the pipe for bike and other equipment. Stay within limits so each cyclist with have enough space.

In case of windy weather, an alternate course may be set up closer to shore to help protect against swimming in rough, wavy conditions.
