BIB COLLECTION
Your race number will need to be collected from the locations below:
Pickup location – Sport Northland – 97 Western Hills Drive, Kensington, Whangarei.

Mountain Bike Event Course Maps
TIMING
- The event will use an electronic timing system.
- All participants must have their race number bib/tag visible on the front of their torso or mountain Bike.
- You are responsible for ensuring that you wear the event number that has been registered to you.
- Please do not mix these up with other participants.
- Gun time will be used for official results.
PHOTOS
Photos4sale will be our photographer for this event, they are the premier photographers for some of the biggest events in the country. Photos4sale is a Pay What You Want (trust-based, customer-set pricing). Where you can decide what you think your event photos are worth!
DRINK STATIONS & TOILETS-
There are no cups on course for any distances; you MUST bring your own cup or hydration pack to hold water.
The Aid Station/Portaloo locations listed below are approximate distances throughout the course. This event is cupless (on the course); therefore, no cups will be available at aid stations throughout the course. You must bring your water bottle, running vest, or something that can hold water. All our Aid Stations will provide water, RLine Electrolyte Hydration, and basic first aid. For more information on RLine Electrolyte Hydration, click here. The Aid Stations are self-service, so you must top up your own water. Please be mindful of other people when getting your water at the Aid Stations – Help yourself to supplies and move on.
TRAIL RUN EVENT
5km
- Aid station – There are no aid stations on the course for this distance, only at the Start/Finish area.
- Toilets – Campground toilets are located near the parking area and at the Start/Finish area.
12km
- Aid station – 6.5km, 8.5km
- Toilets –8.5km and Campground toilets at the start/finish area.
Half Marathon
- Aid station – 6.5km, 10km, 16km, and at the finish area.
- Toilets –7.5km/ 10km, 16km, and Campground toilets at the start/finish area.
MOUNTAIN BIKE EVENT
8km
- Aid station – 5km point on the course and an aid station located at the Start/Finish area.
- Toilets – Located at the 5km mark at the Promenade Campground, and Campground toilets at the start/finish area.
20km
- Aid station – 6.5km, 10km, and 14km points on the course and an aid station located at the Start/Finish area.
- Toilets – 7.5km/10km, 14km, and Campground toilets at the start/finish area.
40km
(All aid stations & toilets will be passed again on your second lap).
- Aid station – 6.5km, 10km, and 14km points on the course. *20km point @ Start & Finish area.
- Toilets –7.5km/10km, 14km, and Campground toilets at the start/finish area.
FINISH AID STATION
Upon finishing, everyone will receive Water and R-Line. There will be disposable cups upon finishing.
*The finish area will have a separate water refill station available for the 40km participants on their second lap of the course; this is a good opportunity to swap out your water bottles or refill your vessels.
CUPLESS ON COURSE
As we mentioned right from the beginning, we are a cupless event. To cut down on waste and to reduce risk of littering, we will have no cups at aid stations. You will need to carry a cup or hydration pack with you. A limited stock of reusable cups will be available for sale at the start area, but we encourage you to purchase one in advance and use it in your training.
Prior to the event, reusable cups are available to purchase from Sport Northland or at the online checkout at time of your event entry purchase.
AID STATION ETIQUETTE
- We will have aid stations spread throughout the course, offering water and R-line.
- Do not expect the marshal on the drink station to pour your water. If you need something from the aid station, please help yourself.
- Respect that people will want access to the aid station so please grab what you need then kindly move out of the way.
Important Note-
All Disciplines will need to bring a vessel to hold and refill liquid.
EVENT DAY PARKING
- Parking is available at the Pine Beach Campground.
FIRST AID
- St Johns will be positioned at the start/finish area.
- Please inform a marshal if you or someone else requires assistance on the course. A tail marshal will follow the event.
MEDIA PLAYERS/HEADPHONES
For your safety, the use of MEDIA PLAYERS is discouraged. Should you choose to use a music device during the event, please have the volume at a level that ensures you are aware of your surroundings and other participants.
PRIZEGIVING

- Mountain Bike/ E-Bike- 2.00 pm
- A spot prize tent will be at the finish area. All participants can go to the spot prize tent to try their luck and see if they have won a spot prize.
- Check to see if your number is showing on the spot prize board, if it is then you are a winner.
- Entrants for all events are eligible for spot prizes.
*Spotprize Board will be open from 9.00 am

Should you feel the need to pack some extra gear for warmth, to keep dry, or for whatever reason, we have a list of recommended items that should see you through.

PRAM WALK/RUN
Due to the Nature of this event, Prams/Buggies are not permitted to attend.
E-BIKES
- E-bikes are only permitted for all three distances.
- Due to low entries for this category, only the top male and female will be acknowledged for each distance.
MOUNTAIN BIKE HEALTH AND SAFETY & EVENT GUIDELINES
Part 1 - Fair Play & Race Etiquette
- All participants must wear a helmet.
- Headphones, earpieces or portal speakers are NOT permitted during the event.
- A participant may only dispose of rubbish at various aid stations along the course.
- It is the requirement of the participant to stay on course and follow the course marking. It is your own fault if you get lost out there.
- PASSING- When you're riding a bike or running with other people, there are some important rules to remember.
- If someone is going faster than you and wants to pass, you should allow them space to go ahead.
- They might say "Track" or "On your right" to let you know they're coming. It's their job to pass safely without hurting anyone. You must give warning to others when approaching from behind if you wish to pass.
- If two people are racing each other, the person in front doesn't have to let the other person pass. However, they can't physically stop or block the other person from moving forward. It's important to be respectful and play fair when you're sharing the track with others.
- Race numbers must be displayed on the handlebars of the bicycle. The number plate must be readable, so it must be fastened as flat as possible.
- Participants may not have any participating support ride the course with them during the race.
Part 2 - Mechanical assistance
Mechanical assistance during a race is subject to the conditions below.
- Bike changes are not allowed, and the rider must cross the finish line with the same handlebar number plate they had at the start.
Part 3 - Crashes & Injured Riders
- A participant that locates another participant injured in a crash MUST STOP to ensure that person is okay.
- If the participant is injured to the extent they need medical support, you MUST stay with him/her and send the next participant to the next marshal to report the medical incident.
GENERAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Marshals will be wearing high-visibility vests and are there for your safety. Always follow their instructions and those of the event organizers.
- This is an off-road event. However, some parts are held on public roads. Please obey all traffic laws and regulations.
- Always treat all roads as open and expect oncoming and overtaking traffic
- Take extreme care when approaching driveways and side roads – expect vehicles
- Where there is a lane coned for participants, you are always required to remain within the cones.
- The off-road section of the course may include steep hills which will be slippery when wet.
- Take extreme care negotiating the course as there may be potholes, tree roots, stairs, and uneven surfaces.
- There will be a lead and tail marshal following the first and last participant in each distance. If assistance is required, please stop, and wait for the tail marshal or notify the nearest marshal.
- All courses are predominantly off-road. Surfaces include but not limited to, clay, loose metal, sand, road, Grass paddock and is narrow in places with exposed tree roots under foot – take extreme care.
- No animals are permitted to accompany participants during the event under the rules of Kai Iwi lakes.
- Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
KIDS 15 AND UNDER
- Dropping your child/children off by themselves or with a friend/s is not permitted at any time, regardless of how many other adults are present; the child/children are the parent's or guardians' responsibility at all times throughout the duration of the event, not the responsibility of the event organizers.
CANCELLATION
In the unlikely event of cancellation, notice will be given on Northland's More FM 91.6 and on our Facebook Page. Where possible, attempts will be made to email participants who have supplied an email address with their entry. While we will endeavour to make a decision to cancel an event as early as possible due to the nature of such events, situations can occur. See our refund structure below.
