The Coldwater Classic is coming to the Thompson-Nicola Valley on July 29 + 30, 2023, and you don't want to miss it!
Lace up your running shoes or jump on your bike and take on a 10 km or 26 km race that will have you reveling in the ever-changing landscapes and incredible mountain views. Putting in the work to gain elevation early on, you will be rewarded with incredible scenery changing from wide paths in flowery meadows to singletrack in a deadwood forest.

*The 10 km and 26 km routes are the same for Running and Biking.*
A $5 donation to the local SAR is included in your registration fee! Any additional donations are welcome.
If you're one of the wild ones who love a challenge of any sort, sign up for a running race on Saturday, and a biking race on Sunday. The running and XC biking routes are the same trails, so if you choose the same distance in both, you will be shredding two loops of the same fantastic trail. Mix and match or take on the extremes in both if you love the burn!
PRIZES: If you podium in any of the races (top 3 spots), you will be going home with a prize valued at $200+ and free entry into a 2023 race of your choice!
**A $10 trail membership charge will be added to all participants' entry fees at checkout. The full amount will go to the Merritt Mountain Bike Association and will be used to prepare the trails for the race and repair any damages post-race. **
** Minors Under 13 are welcome to participate in the 10 KM distances when accompanied by a parent/guardian who has ensured they are skilled enough to complete the course! We welcome the young runners and riders and celebrate their dedication to the sport. Lace up your shoes to take on this glorious 10 km route through the hills and valleys of the Coutlee Plateau. You'll work for the views, but they will all be worth it. Putting in some early work on the incline, you'll be in awe when you reach the top, exploring flowery meadows and deadwood forests and everything in between.

The 26 km run will take you through more landscapes than you thought possible in that distance. It's not for the faint of heart, with no shortage of elevation gain, but the rewards outweigh the work ten-fold. Marvel at the mountain views, the wide-open spaces filled with flowery fields, tree-lined singletrack, and forests of all types. If you're up for the challenge, the Coutlee Plateau is calling your name! *This event has a 6-hour cut-off* Course closes at 2:00 PM.

A 10 km for the books. Hit the berms and fly down the smooth sections, but don't be surprised that you still have to go through some technical terrain and steep trails! But, that's what makes the traverse through the wide-open tracks and the fast and flowy sections all the more worth it. The landscapes are stunning, with mountains on all sides and flowery meadows. You won't be disappointed.

This 26 km race will challenge your grit with some serious climbs right off the hop, but don't be discouraged. All of the steep sections are for the greater good, where the fire in you will be ignited as you fly down fast and flowy singletrack and through the deadwood forests. In your 26 km ride, you'll experience incredible trails that weave through open flowery meadows and soar down singletrack trails, all the while chasing the prizes on the line for the top riders! *6 hour cutoff time* The course closes at 2:00 pm.*

Fee Notes and Deferral Policy
- $5 from every registration will go directly towards Nicola Valley Search and Rescue
- $10 Trail Membership from every registration will go directly towards Merritt Mountain Biking Association to help prepare and maintain the trails before and after the race.
- All prices listed above are subject to sales tax (5% GST in BC). All fees are payable in Canadian Dollars.
- An online processing fee will be applied to your registration for this event.
Deferral Policy
60 days before race day - 100% of your entry fees can be deferred to another Heads or Trails event
30 days before race day - 50% of your entry fees can be deferred to another Heads or Trails event
21 days before race day - No deferrals. No Refunds. No Exceptions. At this point, all of our race expenses have been incurred to put on a fantastic event! We cannot offer any exceptions beyond this point and we appreciate your understanding.
*All deferrals are redeemable within one calendar year from the deferral date, and an entry may only be deferred once
Race Cancellation Policy
If the race is unable to proceed in person for any circumstances including, but not limited to, weather, acts of nature, covid-19, or other circumstances, the event will move ahead virtually.
Bibs are non-transferable to another racer under any circumstance.
Also, please note that we do not provide transfers or refunds under any circumstances.

Camping
Camping Location: Coutlee Plateau Mountain Biking Recreation Area
Camping is FREE!
Come on your own or bring your crew of friends or family and stay for the weekend!
Camping Details:
- Dry camping! No showers or water directly on site - please prepare accordingly and bring lots of your own if you're camping
- We will have porta potties onsite from Friday afternoon - Monday morning
- There is unlimited space for tents, RVs, and Trailers
- You do not need to sign up for camping, just show up and follow the signs when you arrive
- Stay as long as you like! There is no time limit on camping, so feel free to come a day early and stay a day late
