The Muddy Paw Canicross Race offers both a 10k and 5k course, plus the option of a 5k Fun Run/Walk for those who are looking for a more relaxed experience. Note: For the 5k Fun Run/Walk, there is a minimum equipment requirement of a leash and collar for your dog.
Each event is a mass start (small wave starts will be utilized if required due to volume).
Canadian Canicross Sports offers a unique Canicross experience where trail running and Canicross come together in the lush and local trail systems.

5K Fun Run/Walk Closed
If you and your dog are not quite ready to run all out in a race than the 5k fun run/walk is the perfect event for you. Unlike the racing events, the fun run/walk does not require any special canicross gear. You can use a leash and collar and take a brisk walk or gentle run through some beautiful forest.

Important Information and FAQ's
Race kit pick up is from 8am-9am
If you have a reactive dog or want some extra space for your dog, simply get some yellow ribbon at race kit pick up and tie it to your leash or harness - this will signal others to keep a comfortable distance away.
Nothing is worse than having to stop for a poop while you're running your hearts out to gain ground on the teams in front of you. Do your best to let your dog do their business prior to race start to avoid any slow downs. It is expected that you will pick up after your dog, trash bins will be provided at the staging area as well as at the aid station.

Parking
Parking is free for participants, volunteers, and spectators - you'll be directed by volunteers.
How will the race begin?
The race start will go in waves. Depending on the number of racers, the amount of racers in each wave may vary.
How will the Race be timed?
The race will be manually timed. Your time will be marked on your race bib at the finish line.
Where do I pick up my race kit?
Your race kit will be ready for pick up at Monora Park on race day by the gazebo
Can I run with more than one dog?
Participants in the fun run and the virtual runs can run with more than one dog.
The 5k and 10k races will only have one dog per runner.
**multiple dogs can run in the races with their runner but will be ineligible for podium prizes. If a runner with more than one dog finishes in a podium spot, the closest runner with one dog behind them will be awarded that position**
What gear is required for the race events?
For the 5 and 10k race events dogs are required to be in a harness that allows for non restricted motion and allows for pulling
(such as an x-back harness, typically these harnesses have a Y shape that rests on the dogs chest.
A line with with a bungee is required to join the dog and the runner.
The runner should have a Canicross harness or belt that allows them to run hands free.
Do I need Canicross gear for the fun run/walk?
The only gear required for the fun run/walk is a leash and collar at minimum.
Awards and Timing
All finishers will receive a medal and special awards for top 3 finishers of the race categories.
Timing is manual - it is important to clearly display your bib on your front so that our timers can see your number and record your time.
