Why I Am Running for Cure SMA
It is that time of year again! August is SMA awareness month and the running of the Falmouth Road Race! SMA is a genetic disorder resulting in muscle weakness in the body effect not just gross motor skills but the ability to swallow, eat and breath. If untreated, SMA is terminal. I had not heard of this nightmare disease until I met a little spitfire named Kate. She has been the recipient of amazing medical therapies thanks to CureSMA. As the cornerstone for research, medical breakthrough and community support Cure SMa has supported kids like Kate and her family. Without CureSMA, Kate would not be the sassy, “Bluey” loving 6 year old she is today CureSMA needs our contributions to keep up the outstanding work they do every day.
