My Story…
This year Ella and I are running the Falmouth Road Race to raise funds for "Williams Be Yourself Challenge". When we moved to Carlisle, Massachusetts in 2017, the first family that reached out and welcomed us were the Shaws. Along with their sons, William and Kai, they made a point to connect and welcome us to the community.
In 2019, William, their eldest, died in a tragic ski accident. He was 9 years old. Before this accident, William set an intention for himself to "Be Yourself" in 2018. Today his legacy lives on with the creation of WBYC, "Williams Be Yourself Challenge" a nonprofit charity created to help kids find the courage to be their authentic selves and overcome mental health obstacles.
Ella and I are challenging ourselves to run this race in William's memory. May his initiative to be himself and overcome obstacles inspire us.
The funds raised from this race will support the WBYC mission to help kids find the courage to be their authentic selves and overcome mental health hurdles.
