Help Cara raise money

For participating in The 2023 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

Fundraising for Cures!

This year, Crohn's Disease is teaching me how to ride the waves. It's been a little over four years since my diagnosis, and in that time, I've had two colonoscopies, three MRIs, two CT scans, a liver cancer scare, and too many blood draws to count. At the end of April, I went back to the ER with a partial small bowel obstruction which means I'm back in "flare" mode. Have I ever truly been in remission? Will any of the drugs take hold for the long haul? It's hard not to get stuck in a loop of "why me?"

But I keep reminding myself of all the amazing things my body CAN do, and I refuse to allow this part of my life prevent me from appreciating all the beauty and joy that I am so fortunate to experience every day. Running is one of those things. Given how sick I've been lately, running 7 miles at Falmouth in the heat of summer could turn out to be one of the hardest races I'll ever run. But this cause is so important to me, and the reminder that I'm alive and capable and strong is so needed right now.

Thank you for supporting Crohn's & Colitis Foundation and helping me reach my goal!
