I am very excited to announce that I have joined the Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England Falmouth Road Race Team, and plan to run the historic Falmouth Road Race! On August 20, 2023 I will still be hitting the pavement to race 7 miles, I have been training hard preparing for the race but I can’t succeed alone. With your support, our team hopes to provide nearly 400 nights of accommodations to families in need.
When our son Ben was hospitalized for nearly a month with a TBI after a skiing accident in January of 2020, our local Ronald McDonald House provided Vicky and I with lodging and meals at the hospital. Our younger son Sam also got to enjoy time playing with Ben, family, friends and their amazing staff in the RMH Family Room at the Pediatric Care Unit. I have also visited the RMH in Albany many times with Siena athletic teams who prepare dinner for families staying there while their children are hospitalized.
The funds raised by the RMH Falmouth Road Race Team go directly to the RMHC New England. Families come to Ronald McDonald House from all over the world, often leaving behind family and friends to seek out the medical care which they feel will give their child the best chance at survival. Ronald McDonald House eases the financial burden of housing, providing a sense of normalcy while keeping families close during medical crisis. Each year hundreds of families travel to New England from locations all over the world to give their child access to the best medical care. In doing so, they face enormous hurdles such as navigating the complexities of the health care system, extraordinarily high local housing costs, and excessive emotional and physical stress. At the Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England we remove the stress of daily living and support families to enable them to focus on what really matters: their child’s health and healing.
On August 20, 2023 Team RMHCNE will hit the pavement to race the historic 7 mile course, while raising critical funds to support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence and the Ronald McDonald House at Boston Harbor.
This year Team RMHCNE will work together to provide nearly 400 nights of housing, comfort and support for families of critically ill children. Together, we can reduce the stress associated with financial strain so families can focus on the health of their children.
