My Story…
Hi Everyone!
I'm very excited to be running my first Falmouth Road Race on Sunday, August 20th! I am proud to be running while representing the Lupus Foundation of New England.
In November of 2021, I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus or SLE. SLE is an autoimmune disease that can affect the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs. Although the road has not been easy, I have made significant progress over the last year. Last August, I had planned to run my first Falmouth on the Lupus team, but I was on medical leave from work and struggling to walk one mile. Those of you that know me well, know that I have a passion for running. My husband, Pat, graciously stepped in at the last minute and ran the race in my place.
Although I have accepted the fact that I will never be 100 percent and I may never be able to do another full-marathon, I am so thrilled to be feeling better this year and plan to run this seven-mile race. Please consider donating to the Lupus Foundation of New England, as we have a long way to go for research and development of new therapies and treatment!
Thank you in advance, and much love to you all!
Erin
