I am running the Falmouth Road Race for the third year in a row for Herren Project! 

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me the past two years by donating, sharing, and helping me start the conversation. 

I run in memory of my brother Mike who passed away in 2020 to a decade long battle with addiction at the age of 28. 

As I said last year, I run for so many others. I do this to help raise funds to help those who may not have the means to help themselves, in part due to the lack of resources and education there is surrounding Substance Use Disorders here on Cape Cod and around the country. I run for the list of names of those battling their own SUD, drugs or alcohol, that continues to grow. I run for those who feel they can’t openly talk about a child, a sibling, a parent, a friend who battles an addiction. I run because for 10 years I never talked to my brother about his own addiction and I hope others do not ever do the same. 

My heart goes out to anyone suffering from a SUD and to anyone who has ever loved someone battling this disease. It is such a hard and painful road to travel. 

I hope as a community we can begin to change this, we can begin to start the conversion. This year I hope I can reach even more people to help them understand that addiction is not merely a result of poor life choices but rather a number of environmental and culture factors. I hope that with time the list of names begins to shrink instead of grow. 

Please help me continue to spread my message in the way that you have all done in the past! So many of us are in this battle together and we need each other.
