My Story....
Hi everyone! This year, I am running the Falmouth Road race as part of the FSHD Team. Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy is the most prevalent form of muscular dystrophy, a progressive disorder that weakens muscles. There is no cure.
One in 8,000 people are affected. Our incredible neighbor and friend, Katelyn Zwickau (12yo) is one of them. Katelyn has been a classmate with my son throughout grade school. During this time, we have witnessed the disease progression for Kate as she lost her ability to walk and now gets around on her (really quite remarkable!) electric trike. Despite this, Kate remains one of the most vibrant kids we know! She and her family are fierce advocates for the research that needs to be done to further advance treatments for this debilitating condition, particularly for the pediatric population.
Please consider donating to help make new treatments and a cure possible for Kate and all those around the world living with this disease.
