My Story…
Patrick’s Posse will be running our 23rd consecutive Falmouth Road Race on August 20th in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We've been blessed with significant advances for Patrick and the CF community since our first race in 2001. The funds we've raised have had a direct impact on scientific research and new treatments. Patrick has benefited from many of these including the breakthrough CF drug Trikafta, which he started in December of 2019. Since then, Patrick’s health has been excellent and his future brighter than ever. He recently graduated from Boston College and will begin his business career in Boston this summer.
Although there is much to celebrate, we need to continue to make advances against this disease for several reasons:
· Life expectancy for CF patients has vastly improved to "upper 40s", but that is simply not good enough.
· CF modulators (Trikafta) have been life changing for so many yet there are countless individuals who do not yet have a suitable modulator for their CF mutation.
· Many CF patients continue to battle lung infections resulting in permanent lung damage. Research on how best to prevent/fight infections is critical.
· And most importantly there is still NO cure for CF, only treatments.
We truly appreciate the generosity so many of you have shown Patrick's Posse year after year. Thank you for your continued support!
