My Story…
For those who know me, you know I consider any distance over 400 meters, long distance. My last name is Speid (pronounced speed) and I grew up only knowing how to run fast for short distances. This year, i'm trying something new by running the Falmouth Road Race and I would love your support.
Outside of a personal goal, i'm running to bring awareness to the Cape Cod YMCA Achievers Program. In partnerships with local high schools, sponsors, and other youth organizations in the community, this program connects youth and families to resources they need to help prepare for life after high school and beyond! Their mission is to help teens discover and pursue higher education and career goals by equipping them with the skills and community role models they need to get there.
I grew up in Hyannis as an immigrant from Jamaica and although I wasn't a member of the Y's Achievers program, I benefited from similar programs that offered; positive community role models, a network of peers, opportunities to learn about diverse career options, scholarships and much more.

Thanks for your support.
