My Story…
Diabadass: a person with Type 1 Diabetes, who just so happens to also be a badass.
This year I am lucky enough to have been selected as a member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's team for the 51st ASICS Falmouth Road Race on August 20, 2023!
JDRF has been the foundation that has guided me through my years of Type 1 Diabetes. From being an 8 year old at The Rainbow Club (weeklong summer camp), to completing multiple JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes with friends and family over the years, to now being a sponsored runner for The Falmouth Road Race, I will forever be in debt to this wonderful organization.
For my fundraising goal, I am hoping to reach a total of $3,000. Why $3,000? Great question! This is my 30th year of being Type 1 Diabetic, and (let's be honest), I'm a sucker for numerical alliteration.
If you are able to donate, it would truly mean so much to me, my family, friends, coworkers, mentors, and so on, who have helped me along this journey. I am only here because of the support I have around me.
If you'd like to follow along (and probably laugh at) my training journey to running 7 miles, please feel free to follow on Instagram @braeddleston. I'm sure I'll embarrass myself countless times. If you're ever feeling in the mood to join me for a run, I'll also take you up on that!
Here's to a world without T1D
